The wall enclosure of the monastery ruins are a historical site of the Generaldirektion Kulturelles Erbe Rheinland-Pfalz (General Directorate for Cultural Heritage Rhineland‑Palatinate), www.gdke.rlp.de.

North of the village of Schönborn in the Rhine-Lahn district, in an idyllic side valley of the Rupbach, lie the remains of the wall enclosure of a former Poor Clare monastery.
The Convent of the Poor Clares was founded in 1335 by Counts Wilhelm von Katzenelnbogen and Gerlach von Nassau. As it was never an important monastery complex, it was dissolved after the Reformation and left to decay. At the beginning of the 17th century, only the single-nave monastery church was still usable.
Large sections of the western and northern walls from the Bärbach stream to the forestry office are still preserved from the monastery enclosure. These have been in state care since 1969. Of the Gothic monastery church, which was preserved longer and was restored in 1987, there remain parts of the north wall and the gable, as well as the remains of the monastery building walls amidst the agricultural farmsteads of the village. The wall remnants of the monastery complex and the surrounding wall were declared a monument zone together with the neighbouring settlement.
